Day Five - Thursday, April 19th - North Shore of Oahu

Thursday morning we woke up and decided to take one of the trails at Turtle Bay, heading east from the hotel property itself. The property seems to be pretty large and has several trails -- the ones we took seemed to get a lot of horseback riders, but also a few other hikers.

We started out of the hotel and were rather surprised to see some really fancy cars in the driveway. Matt snapped pictures of a few:

In the parking lot itself, things got back to normal --until we came on this car. Just couldn't resist that bumper sticker.

From there, we headed towards the trail head. The trails took us along the shore of Turtle Bay.

At the end of the bay is a point jutting out into the ocean. At that area there's a bunker left from WWII.

And, like every other beach or hike, this one was windy. Gotta love the windblown hair look!

We wandered inland a bit, near a banyan tree which was apparently a film site for Lost -- it was so overgrown that I kinda doubt that rumor! The hike was nice, though.

The main reason for walking was to get to this next bay -- a protected, peaceful beach.

Quite a few small crab call this beach home.

... so does one lonely golf ball.

At a place called Turtle Bay you'd hope to see a turtle -- we managed to see this one, mostly out of camera-range.

Beautiful Flowers!
