Hawaii Photo Album

Day Two - Sunday, April 15th.

Waking up early Sunday morning and opening our blinds to see Waikiki and Diamond Head beyond was a beautiful thing.

We spent most of the morning relaxing on Waikiki beach. Boats (ranging from outrigger canoes to sunset cruise yachts) frequently take passengers into the water. We caught a catamaran near the hotel for a pre-sunset cruise. Upon arrival, one of the other guests greeted us and asked if we were there for the sunset cruise of the $1 mai-tai's. You guess which we answered. Yep, we were pretty much the only people on the boat primarily for the landscape, if you know what I mean. Waikiki is a busy area, no doubt (less so in April, we imagine, that in the higher summer seasons), and, with any busy beach crowd, you're bound to get party-people. We're not really that sort... but, without a word, we seemed to strike a balance with the others on the boat -- we enjoyed the water, and so did they -- yet in very different ways.

Her's Matt, before we set sail.

Just after the boat took off, we caught a great view to our hotel. The tall section at the left was where we stayed -- the Tower Wing at the Moana Surfrider. We caught another view returning to the coat -- this one capturing more of the historic hotel. The surfrider extends from the tower on the left thru the middle section (obscured here by the historic Banyan Tree) to the small wing adjacent to the tree - other hotels are very close on Waikiki.

Here's Becky - on the water and not sea-sick!
