Our Honeymoon

Moorea (part A)

Moorea and Tahiti are just a few miles apart physically. We weren't able to fully observe Tahiti, but it seems Moorea's tourism was more our style -- more couples than tour groups -- and the island itself seemed more like what you expected these islands looked like before large hotels took over. Moorea has some development, a few small towns, and tons of great views. There's a ferry boat that connects the islands, which would have been easy to take, but our tour included a quick flight. The flight was great -- you watch the water color changing as you enter the island's lagoon and watch the lush vegetation and hills fill your vision. We stayed on Moorea for several nights - and again, we highly recommend it!

We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel on Moorea. The Polynesian staff members were friendly and courteous. We had some communication differences with the French staff at the main office (some of which went beyond words to ideas -- but that's a longer story...), but on the whole, the resort was lovely. As the map shows, it's half-way between LA & Sydney.

Here's Becky pointing to where our bungalow was located on the map.

Our room was considered overwater -- though honestly not over much water. Still, we could climb into the water a bit from our deck and could see some fish. Here's a picture Matt finds cute of Becky, who gave up tolerating looking into the sunny skies to get the perfect shot.

Our room was on a corner of the resort.

Our room had had a small deck that pointed directly towards the sunset.

The hotel's breakfast room provided typically beautiful views to the lagoon

The intercontinental Moorea had a dolphinarium - and the bridges that link the sections of the resort are often good vantage points to see dolphins. No dolphins in this picture, just some happy newlyweds!
